Yatton-based Smart Architectural Aluminium welcomed two government ministers to its stand at this month’s Ecobuild exhibition, with the Rt Hon Michael Fallon, MP (Minister for Business and Enterprise) and the Rt Hon Greg Barker, MP (Minister for Energy and Climate Change) taking time to view the company’s stand and discuss its future plans with Architectural Advisor, Roy Meffen.

Over fifty thousand visitors attended the annual three day Ecobuild exhibition, which is the UK’s largest event for building and construction professionals. Smart’s impressive 165m² stand provided the perfect platform for the introduction of a number of new products, as well as a showcase for the company’s sustainability and environmental credentials.

Speaking after the visit, Roy said: “We were delighted to welcome the ministers and to have the opportunity to discuss our ambitious plans with them. After completing a tour of the stand, we spoke about our broad commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and in particular, the next stage in the development of our Yatton site. This will see production capacity increase by more than 50%, our workforce almost double and renewable energy generation introduced to enable us to generate almost 100% of our power locally.

“The exhibition was once again a great success for Smart. The new door and window products that we launched were extremely well received, with our new Evolution and Visoglide commercial doors at the heart of the display. The Visoglide Plus sliding door in particular attracted a great deal of interest with its slim sight lines and automatic opening option. Available in sizes up to 2.4 x 7metres, it is perfect for high end commercial applications such as retail outlets and showrooms as well as for panoramic residential projects. We’re now looking forward to launching these products to the market and moving forward with all our development plans during the course of this year.”
