Living walls specialist Scotscape has supplied and installed a new 184 square metre system in Sutton, transforming part of the town’s High Street and bringing life to a previously tired and drab concrete structure.

Secured to a steel frame, the ANS Living Wall System comprises eight modules per square metre, with each square metre containing 112 plants. In total, over 20,000 plants have been incorporated in to the living wall, as well as a number of insect and bird boxes to encourage the development of a sustainable wildlife habitat.

Scotscape not only designed and installed the living wall, but also the irrigation system and will take responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the site.

Commenting on the project, the company’s Managing Director, Angus Cunningham said: “We were delighted to have been selected to take part in the regeneration of Sutton High Street, with the living wall breathing new life into a part of the town that had become rather jaded over recent years. The mixed planting scheme has created a really vibrant and interesting feature, which has already had a great reaction from both shoppers and the business community”.
